Der Hallux valgus ist eine Schiefstellung des Großzehengrundgelenks. Er ist auch als „Ballenzeh“ oder "Zwiebel" bekannt. Der große Zeh nähert sich seinem Nachbarn und kann sich sogar über ihn schieben. Der Fuß zeigt oft einen Auswuchs, der unansehnlich, aber auch die Ursache unerträglicher und behindernder Schmerzen sein kann.
Um die Abweichung des Zehs schrittweise zu korrigieren, hat EPITACT® dünne und leichte Korrekturorthesen entwickelt:
- Die korrigierende Tagesorthese für Hallux valgus* wurde entwickelt, um das Fortschreiten der Verformung zu begrenzen und Schmerzen zu lindern.

Diese Fehlstellung des Vorfußes kann mehrere Ursachen haben: Sie kann erblich bedingt sein, eine Folge einer entzündlichen Erkrankung sein oder durch regelmäßiges Tragen von ungeeigneten Schuhen (spitze, schmale High-Heels) entstehen. Der Fuß wird dann stark belastet, was die Erscheinung eines Hallux valgus fördert. In 9 von 10 Fällen sind Frauen von dieser Fußfehlstellung betroffen.
Der Hallux valgus verursacht oft Rötungen und Schmerzen im Ballen am Großzehengrundgelenk. Probleme mit dem Schuhwerk führen zu Druckstellen und übermäßiger Reibung am Ballen. Wenn sich dieser intensive Kontakt mit dem Schuhwerk wiederholt, entstehen am Fußballen Verhornung und Schwielen. Dies führt auch dazu, dass sich bei einer starken Abspreizung des Großzehs sich über den benachbarten Zeh schiebt.
Um diese Schmerzen zu lindern, hat EPITACT® verschiedene Pflegelösungen auf Basis von Silikongel-Streifen entwickelt:
- Der Silikonschutz* reduziert die Reibung mit dem Schuhwerk und lindert die Schmerzen vom Ballenzeh. Er wird während des Tages wie eine Socke angezogen und lässt sich unbemerkbar ganz komfortabel tragen;
- Die doppelten Schutzpolster* lindern außerdem Schmerzen an der Fußsohle und verringern den Druck am Ballenzeh gegen das Schuhwerk.

Ja und Nein! Der Hallux valgus wird tatsächlich oft von einem Eltern- oder einem Großelternteil vererbt. Gewisse Verhaltensweisen können seine Entwicklung jedoch beschleunigen. Das Tragen von Schuhen mit hohen Absätzen und unpassender Form (spitz, eng...) trägt dazu bei, die Entwicklung der Fußfehlstellung zu verstärken.
Der Hallux valgus ist eine vererbbare Erkrankung.
Falsch! Wenn der Hallux valgus erst den Anfangsstadium aufweist, kann das Tragen einer Korrekturorthese das Fortschreiten der Fußfehlstellung begrenzen. Das ist genau das Ziel der EPITACT®-Orthesen. Die flexible Orthese kann auf erschwerende Faktoren beim Gehen wirken. Zusätzlich kann die Nachtorthese den Zeh nach persönlichem Bedarf ausgerichtet halten und den empfindlichen Ballenzeh während des Schlafs schützen. Auch Lockerungsübungen sind wichtig, um eine gute Beweglichkeit der Zehengelenke zu trainieren.
Bei einem Hallux valgus bleibt nur eine OP als Alternative.
FALSCH! Chirurgie wäre nach ärztlicher Beratung eine Lösung unter Anderen, aber nicht als erste Wahl, um Schmerzen am Ballenzeh zu mindern. Um Kontaktschmerzen zu vermeiden, ist es vor allem wichtig, Schuhe zu tragen, die an die Morphologie des Fußes angepasst sind, und darüber hinaus gegebenenfalls einen Schutzpflaster auf der empfindlichen Stelle. Um die Versteifung des Gelenks und die Bildung der Fußfehlstellung als 'Zwiebel' zu begrenzen, sind in erster Stelle tägliche Lockerungsübungen und das Tragen einer Tages- / Nachtorthese besonders angebracht.
Eine OP ist die einzige Lösung, um einen Hallux valgus zu entlasten.
RICHTIG! Auch nach einer operativen Behandlung kann sich der Hallux valgus / 'Zwiebel' nachträglich wieder bilden, wenn der Ballenzeh weiterhin nicht korrekt gepflegt wird. Als erste Maßnahme muss das Schuhwerk gewechselt werden: enge Pumps und hohe Absätze sollen nur in Ausnahmefällen getragen werden. Dann können Schutzbandagen bei Hallux valgus verwendet werden, damit direkte Reibungen und Reizungen mit den Schuhen gemindert und die Schmerzen am Ballenzeh in Grenzen gehalten werden.
Der Hallux valgus kann sich trotz Behandlung später nachbilden.
